You do not need to know anything about foster care, the court system, or child advocacy before becoming a CASA. That is what training is for.

Our pre-service training introduces you to the child welfare system, the role of a CASA, understanding trauma, communicating with children and families, gathering information, writing court reports, and advocating for a child’s best interests.

But CASA training is about more than learning how to advocate.

It is designed to be an engaging and memorable experience where you learn alongside other people who have made the same decision to step forward. You will share conversations, work through real-world situations, ask questions, and begin building relationships with the CASA staff and fellow advocates who will become part of your support system.

Training is where you learn the work, build your confidence, and become part of the CASA team.

And that team stays with you. Once you are assigned a case, CASA staff continue to provide guidance, resources, and support every step of the way.

We don’t expect you to walk in knowing how to be a CASA. We’ll teach you, support you, and make sure you never have to do it alone.
